Then, she decided to start her own production company, and she began production work beginning in 2000. In 2002, she appeared in and produced the biopic "Frida" that focused on the life and work of Frida Kahlo. The film, which was produced by Julie Taymor, went on to win multiple awards, and netted she an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Since then, she's gone back and forth between TV and film roles.
